The model CCC-1000 is the largest-capacity countercurrent chromatograph of the Pharma-Tech instrument line. This large volume enables the analyst to isolate gram quantities of components of chromatographic purity. The inert nature of the system makes countercurrent chromatography the method of choice for isolation of such labile compounds as tannins and proteins.
The three-coil design of all Pharma-Tech countercurrent chromatographs provides automatic balancing throughout the run, regardless of density differences between stationary and mobile phases. (Click here to see the three-coil centrifuge rotor of the related model, CCC-3000.)
All Pharma-Tech planetary countercurrent chromatographs incorporate a centrifuge rotor with easily removed and replaced coil assemblies, facilitating repair or reconfiguration of the system. Coil assemblies are available on an exchange basis from the Pharma-Tech facility in Baltimore, MD. Coil assemblies are exchanged by removing only four screws and two tube fittings. This allows users to save time and money by maintaining the instrument themselves. However, Pharma-Tech has a well established policy of providing service on any unit returned to the Baltimore facility (with pre-approval).
The model CCC-1000 performs as the column in a chromatographic system. Shown here is a recommended system configuration, which includes HPLC components from the Shimadzu HPLC line: The LC-610 pump (which is similar to the LC-8A pump), the SPD-10Ai UV detector, and the FRC-10A fraction collector.
