The CCC-3000 Planetary Countercurrent Chromatograph

The model CCC-3000 is the workhorse of the Pharma-Tech instrument line. Designed with the high resolution and high speed needed for analytical work, it also capable of yielding pure components in milligram quantities for further structural or biological work.

The three-coil design of the model CCC-3000 countercurrent chromatograph provides automatic balancing throughout the run, regardless of density differences between stationary and mobile phases. This feature, an original development of Pharma-Tech Research Corporation, eliminates the need (of the original single-coil prototype instruments) to stop the run and manually rebalance the centrifuge by adding counterweights.

The coil assemblies are easily removed from or replaced on the centrifuge rotor, facilitating repair or reconfiguration of the system. (The centrifuge rotor assembly is show elsewhere for the model CCC-1000.)

The model CCC-3000 performs as the column in a chromatographic system. Shown here is a recommended system configuration, which includes HPLC components from the Shimadzu HPLC line: The LC-10AD pump, the SIL-10A autosampler, the SPD-10A UV detector, the FRC-10A fraction collector, and the SCL-10A controller, all interfaced to a computer.
